Have you met a man here who goes by the name of Dietrich Jaeger? Long hair, a rather brilliant red color; he dresses in a way that I appreciate, to give you an idea. He makes a lot of text posts to the network; have you spoken to him?
All right. Bear in mind that I'm telling you this with the full knowledge that I may be wrong; it's one of those circumstances where being unnecessarily wary is preferable to assuming I have no reason to be and finding out later that I should have been. There's no way to know for sure until we find out the hard way.
He was talking to me about how his skillset for his old job is no longer required here. Apparently he worked for the government, and whatever he did was highly confidential and something that he didn't want to state in front of the network as a whole, because he could never be sure that someone who would have some sort of reason to want him taken out wouldn't be able to see it. I asked him if he'd found anyone who might despise him like that; he said that he hadn't seen any, but after the last weekend he preferred to be cautious.
...He also kept talking to me in a way that implies he knows I'm keeping secrets, and he knows what they are. He asked me why I don't like socializing with most people, he asked me what I do with myself to keep myself busy, and I don't know if it was intentional but he tends to rephrase things I say about "people" by replacing that word with "humans" instead, and while that could just be the way he talks it could also be trying to get a reaction.
He's German, definitely, but he answers to people in Japan - the CCG carried out several operations in Germany, led by Washuu Matsuri. There's a friend of mine...that particular branch of the CCG wiped out his entire family, he was the only survivor.
I don't know, it's possible that it's a series of coincidences, and it's possible that I'm paranoid about this and jumping at shadows, but there was something about the conversation...I didn't like it.
[...Jesus, Tsukiyama's really thought this out, hasn't he? This doesn't help Banjou's confidence out much. They're both a couple of paranoid ghouls, so overreacting is entirely possible, but Banjou is used to being cautious. He'd done his best to be cautious as hell when it came to breaking Kaneki out of Aogiri Tree. It hadn't worked out, in the end, but he'd still made the attempt.]
It sounds like he really could be a member of CCG.
I'll start keeping an eye on him. He already suspects you; we need to make sure he doesn't suspect anything of Kaneki.
...If Jaeger-san is European, there's a strong chance he doesn't know about Kaneki-kun in the first place. That would also make him my problem, primarily, as it would explain how he might know about me - my family has connections there.
Kaneki-kun is better at passing for human than we are. If we tell him and make him wary of Jaeger-san and he does run into him later, he may act suspicious in front of him.
[The idea doesn't entirely sit well with him, but that's because Banjou isn't exactly a fan of keeping Kaneki in the dark. It's bad enough they can't mention all of the... that that happens to him for fear of understandably freaking the guy out.]
Alright.
But if Jaeger-san makes it clear he knows about Kaneki, we tell him.
[It's a good thing this is text, it makes it a little less obvious how unwilling he is to go along with this.]
[It's bothering him too, honestly; he can't really tell if it's bothering Banjou or not, but...
Okay. Let's. Let's try being functional as a unit for once in our miserable lives.]
You know I don't say things like that because I'm trying to shut down the argument, n'est-ce pas? I just think we should have a clear understanding of what we're doing, from all angles.
[text]
Banjou wasn't made aware of anyone else showing up. Did he miss something?]
What kind of problem are we talking about?

I believe he may be from the CCG.

Banjou hadn't thought about it before, and he hasn't ever paid enough attention to the man to come to the same conclusion, but...]
What makes you think that?
[So he can immediately start keeping an eye on the man.]

...Should we tell Kaneki-kun about this?

I don't know. Telling him might worry him, but on the other hand I don't want him to run into the man unaware.

There's no reason to start a war with a Dove, anyway. Not here.
It's not like he can do much damage to us here, especially if we stay on alert. I'll keep an eye on him, too.
He might not know about me.
