He talks to me sometimes; he asked me to teach him guitar yesterday, but other than that, nothing.

Okay. I was just wondering if he said anything to you, since he called me yesterday. He knows I'm not really a singer now, at least...but he thinks I'm hiding something.

I just told him I didn't want to talk about it.

[Rin is someone fairly trustworthy-- Banjou doesn't think he's with the CCG or anything of the sort.

He's just somehow able to tell Kaneki is hiding something; maybe it's obvious, after all, Banjou isn't quite protective enough to be following Kaneki's every move.]

I've been fine, haven't done any traveling or anything, but I can't complain.

Yeah, me too. I've been traveling a little with Chie-san. We're heading to Violet city right now.

[You know, he might not like Hori much, but he does trust her; Kaneki will be fine with her, Banjou knows that much.]

You'll have to tell me about your travels; I've never been to Violet.

[For Kaneki, it's been like getting to know a complete stranger...but he's gotten to like her quite a bit, so far.]

I will. We camped out in the Ilex forest, too, so that was pretty interesting.

How was it? I didn't spend much time in the forest in Johto.

It wasn't too bad. The scenery was actually really nice.

...we ran into some strange Pokemon, though. One of them was literally an exploding pinecone.

Yeah. Apparently they fall off of trees and just...explode. That was the only thing like that we ran into, though.

That's... a little disturbing.

Chie-san seemed to like it, though. She took a picture of it when it exploded.

She takes pictures all the time. I can't say I'm surprised about something like that.

Yeah, that's true. She says she's going to try and take a picture of every Pokemon that exists here.

It's an interesting goal; very different from the standard goals people set for themselves here-- collecting as many Pokemon as possible, or getting all of the badges.

What sort of goals do you have for yourself, Kaneki? You must have some.

I do think I might try to get the first badge, at least, but I'm not sure yet if trying to collect them all is going to be for me...what I really want to do is try and read all of the different books this place has. They're all so different from the versions back home.

You know, getting badges here might not be so bad. It sounds like something people do all the time here.

As for the books, I've found a few that aren't so bad. It would be better if they didn't have so many puns.

[But then again Banjou barely has a sense of humor.]

I know what you mean. Just the titles of most of the books here are Pokemon puns to begin with.

[At least with books like The Metamorphosis they couldn't quite get away with that.]

Do you think you'll try to get all of the badges?

I'm thinking about it. It'd be worth doing.

I'd actually be able to get HMs instead of borrowing them.
